Maggie Standley

Born on Long Island, New York and raised there, Texas and California, Maggie’s art explodes with color, line, shape and form. She began painting her last year in college after studying French and Poli Sci in Paris. She is primarily self-taught. Her works delve into power, truth, beauty and violence. Words play a crucial role and are written in French and English as a prayer, message, intention upon the underpainting. Lines from the letters become guides for composition to come forth.

A long time educator and youth advocate, community projects have played a substantial role in her career. She runs Wingspan Studio & School based in Burlington, VT, partners with schools and organizations and leads international art retreats. She teaches art and French, culture and kindness. Maggie believes in the power of beauty and harnessed pain to transform one’s circumstances and a little bit, our world.
